Courses to qualify assessors and trainers offered by QTraining:

AVA Assessor Certificate Level 3 Download

Assessing Vocational Achievement is the professional qualification for people who would like to become Assessors to enable them to make judgements against evidence presented to them by learners

Course Requirements

You have to be assessing to at least two learners

  • You need to have the knowledge, understanding, experience and competency up to the correct level in the subject area in which you are going to assess
  • You are observed giving feedback to two learners
  • You produce a portfolio of documentary evidence of your competence and knowledge as an assessor

Course Duration:

3 day workshops over a period of 3 months – then around 6 months to complete the certificate

IQA Verifier Award Level 4 Download

Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes is the professional qualification for people who would like to become Internal Verifiers to enable them to check the judgements and competence of assessors

Course Requirements:

You have to be responsible for IV of at least two assessors

  • You need to have the knowledge and understanding up to the correct level in the subject area of your assessors
  • You are observed giving feedback to two assessors
  • You produce a portfolio of documentary evidence of your competence and knowledge as an internal verifier

Course Duration:

2 day workshops over a period of 2 months – then around 6 months to complete the award

PTLLS Award Level 3/4       Download

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector is the professional qualification for people who would like to become teachers of learners in the work-based learning sector.  Completing this Award is a requirement if you are a teacher/trainer for courses funded by the government, and you are not already a qualified teacher.

Course Requirements

You have to be practising at least some individual and group teaching

  • You are observed delivering a 30 minute sessions to your peers
  • You produce a portfolio of documentary evidence of your competence and knowledge as a learning teacher
Course Duration

6 day workshops over a period of 6 months – then around 3 months to complete the award

Following the PTLLS Award you will need to also complete the CTLLS Certificate or DTLLS Diploma to achieve Qualified Teacher Status

The courses provide an introduction for those who wish to train or teach the relevant course to others. It is ideally suited for those who work, or want to work as training personnel in commerce, industry or public sector.

Course Requirements

    • You should have the ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
    • You need to be energetic and assertive
    • You demonstrate advanced knowledge or qualification in the area you train
    • You are observed delivering a training session
    • You pass a written test

Course Duration

      • Moving and Handling - 5 days
      • Health and Safety - 5 days
      • First Aid – 5 days
      • Food Hygiene - 4 days (Intermediate), 8 days (Advanced)
      • Infection Control - 4 days or Distance Learning
      • Dementia & Challenging Behaviour - 5 days
      • Advanced communications skills - 7 days

NB All Train the Trainer courses are needed to be updated every three years.
