What is a QCF Qualification?

QCF (Qualification Credit Framework) qualifications assess real work activities. Basically, they are a process of collecting evidence to show that each learner meets the national occupational standards – in both skills and knowledge

A qualification is made up of a set number of core and optional units which can be tailored to reflect the job that a worker is doing.

An assessor observes each learner at work and assesses their portfolio of evidence

Each unit gains the learner a number of ‘credits’.  All units achieved are recorded on their QCF National Learning Record – and some may later count towards other qualifications

Course Requirements and Duration

These qualifications are available to all ages, at any career stage and without any previous qualifications.   The learner just needs to be working at the level of the qualification they wish to achieve.
